Ramaswamy and for upper class people to rethink over Mahatma Gandhi’s ideological commitment towards untouchables to ensure respectable life to them in our Hindu-fold so as to ensure equal participation of all in the nation building and have introspection as losses done in the history due to our graded division. It has message for academicians who have power of pen which is said to be mightier than sword, to start a fresh reconciliatory approachment between the two haters of the practice of untouchability, dehumanizing some people only on ground of birth and lover of humanity, justice and equality- the father of the Nation and the father of the Constitution. It may invite attention of all to brood over the national profit and loss. Birth is not the basis of our consideration of social behaviour and worth is given precedence as our founding fathers of the constitution adopted Ashoka’s Dharmachakra as our symbol of national honour (though he was Shudra by caste). It may also provide inspiration to think patiently how much our Indian society would have benefitted had Shambboka not been beheaded, Eklabyas’s thumb would not have been cut and Rohith Vemula would have been allowed to blossom?

With its inter-disciplinary dimension the Book is equally valuable for politico-social thinkers, policy makers and personnel involved in the governance of the country, and also the students, researchers and teachers in the discipline of Law, Political Science, Sociology and Social Anthropology.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Professor (Dr.) Anirudh Prasad, topper of L.L.B. with University Gold-Medal and topper of L. L. M. has published 22 books from Publishers of established reputation like E.B.C., Lucknow to his credit with distinction of having been referred by Sarkaria Commission on Centre-State Relations, quoted by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in famous Mandal case (Indra Sawhney v. Union of India), published with forewords by Hon’ble Supreme Court Judges like V.R. Krishna Iyer and D.A. Desai, High Court Judge, S.K. Singh, great legal luminaries like Professor Upendra Buxi and Professor Mahendra Pratap Singh and sociologist Prof. S. P. Nagendra, and more than eight dozen articles in almost all prestigious law Journals. He has been Professor, H.O.D. and Dean, Faculty of Law, in D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, Professor and Dean, Academics, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur and is at present Professor, H.O.D. Law and Dean, Students Welfare, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, Patiala. His field of specialization is Constitutional law, Jurisprudence and Labour Law.

Dr. Chandra Sen Pratap Singh, B.Sc., M.Ed., LL.M., Ph.D. (Law, B.H.U.) is serving as Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, Lucknow University, Lucknow, U.P., has published half a dozen Articles and books (individually and in coauthorship). His specialization is in the fields of Constitutional Law and Intellectual Property Rights.
